After 24 hours of a record amount of caution flags, bi-polar weather, and a fiercely competitive grid, Corvette Racing just missed the podium — missing out on their 8th GTE-class win in 13 years. 22-year-old Jordan Taylor powered the No. 73 Corvette C6.R to the finish, placing fourth, while Oliver Gavin piloted the No. 74 car to a seventh place finish.

Taylor, along with teammates Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen qualified only ninth, while Gavin, Richard Westrbook and Tommy Milner qualified in eighth. The team made up a lot of ground in the morning, and persevered the entire race without any major incident, but the field — which also went on without many issues — was simply too fast this year. Porsche AG Team Manthey took the top two spots in the GTE Pro class this year, with Aston Martin Racing taking third. Corvette Racing was split by the pair of Ferraris, and placed ahead of [...]

One man is hospitalized in the accident that occurred Monday night

March 5, 2013

A man was hospitalized today after the Corvette he was driving rear-ended and became stuck beneath a box truck on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass.

The crash was reported at 11:10 p.m. Monday near Getty Center Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Firefighters pulled the Corvette from beneath the truck and took the driver, who was conscious throughout the rescue, to a hospital with non-life- threatening injuries, Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Berkery told a news photographer at the scene.

The crash shut down all but one southbound lane of the freeway, the photographer said.

Thanks to Rick McClure for the dramatic photos.

The successor to the Enzo is the fastest road car in Ferrari’s history. It could be yours for a cool $1.2 million. Wait — they’ve all been sold.

After months of “leaked” images and speculation, we can finally confirm details of the Ferrari hybrid supercar. First off, it is called LaFerrari. The name, which raised a few eyebrows at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and literally means “the Ferrari,” is meant to convey that this car represents the ultimate expression of what the Italian automaker strives to create.

The LaFerrari has done the unthinkable and made Ferrari’s 458 Italia look dated. In an instant the Enzo looks almost comical. For sure, the dust will need to settle before we compare LaFerrari to some of the automaker’s greats.

If you’re in any doubt regarding LaFerrari’s potential, this beast will accelerate to 62 mph in less than three seconds and reach 124 mph in under seven seconds. [...]

The Corvette ZR1 beat the AH-1 helicopter across the finish line in this stunt for "Top Gear Korea."<br />

Filming for a stunt for “Top Gear Korea” nearly ended in tragedy as footage released by the BBC shows. Video from the stunt was posted to the show’s YouTube channel on Sunday, depicting presenter Kim Jin Pyo racing a Corvette ZR1 against an AH-1 Cobra helicopter.

In the footage, the Corvette beats the ex-military AH-1 Cobra across the finish line. Everything seems to be going just fine until the helicopter banks hard to the right before spiraling into the ground.

“Top Gear,” which is known for its extreme car-racing challenges including a 1986 Mini racing a skier down a slope and testing whether the jet of a 747 [...]

Here is the official link to the new Corvette C7 reveal on this Sunday night at 6:55 pm Eastern (3:55 pm Pacific).

Trenton High School students began working on a yellow 1980 Chevy Corvette in the 2011-12 school year and restoration has been a long and bumpy ride.

By Nate Stemen

December 13, 2012

In 2011, Vietnam veteran Jim Schneider, 68, of Taylor, got tired of watching his beloved yellow 1980 Chevy Corvette waste away in the garage. At about the same time, Trenton High School principal Michael Doyle began searching for a project car for the automotive technology students at the high school.

Doyle mentioned to his uncle, Schneider, the district lacked the funding to purchase a vehicle for students to work on. Before Doyle said another word, Schneider offered up his prized Corvette.

Now in the second year of restoration, automotive technology students at Trenton High School are in the driver’s seat of a restoration project that has proved to be a long and bumpy ride.

Students began working on the [...]

GM President of North America Mark Reuss kicked off the Chevrolet press conference during last week’s L.A. International Auto Show. The main announcement was that people could now drive the C7 Corvette virtually on Sony PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 5, it seems that no one noticed some of his remarks about the next-gen Corvette:

2012 is turning out to be another great year for Chevrolet… and 2013 promises to be even bigger. We’ll be launching 13 new models next year — including the all-new Silverado and Impala.

It all starts January 13th when we introduce the next generation Corvette in Detroit.

All I can tell you right now is that the new Corvette will offer an entirely new driving experience – one that’s refined, and redefined. There are just a handful of engineers authorized to drive the Corvette test vehicles on our proving grounds . And you can tell right away which ones they are – [...]
